Lecturer in Acting-Performance
Full-time to begin Fall 2020

Qualifications: MFA or equivalent terminal degree in Acting or Performance Areas; professional experience; evidence of at least one year of successful teaching in a university setting.

Responsibilities: Ability to teach the foundational courses in acting, voice and movement. Preferred candidate’s teaching approach will be informed by professional practice and influenced by traditional and emerging trends in actor training. Participate in faculty governance and service to the department, college, and the university.

Rank & Salary: Lecturer. Multi-year contract. New hire equipment support. Salary is competitive.

The University: The University of North Texas is a Carnegie Tier I Research Institution located within the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex with nearly 900 faculty and a diverse student population of approximately 44,000.

The Department: UNT Theatre possesses a strong reputation in the area for quality training and a professional faculty. The Department of Dance and Theatre is housed in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences with 10 full-time theatre faculty, adjunct teaching artists and approximately 600 majors and minors in Theatre. The Department offers a BA degree in Theatre with concentrations in Performance, Design/Technology, General Studies and Theatre Teacher Certification. The vibrant undergraduate program delivers a rigorous theatre education within a liberal arts context. The Department produces a full season of 5-6 productions as well as several laboratory events directed by faculty, guest artists or students. Additionally, UNT Theatre is committed to hiring guest professional artists to engage with students and faculty.

Denton, Texas: A community of over 130,000 located on Interstate 35 with easy access to Dallas, Fort Worth, and a major international airport. Denton enjoys a moderate climate and access to a wide variety of cultural activities and an active community arts organization in the DFW area. There is no state income tax.
