SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY Music Education: Full-Time Assistant Teaching Professor, one-year position beginning August 2023.
The Setnor School of Music within the College of Visual and Performing Arts and the School of Education at Syracuse University seeks an innovative general music education specialist to join our faculty in the 2023-2024 academic year. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of foundations of music education, music methods classes at both elementary and secondary levels, technology in music education, current problems/issues and philosophy in music education, assessment in music education, and act as the advisor for the NAfME chapter. Further course assignments dependent upon areas of expertise. Qualifications include a completed doctorate (ABD considered) in the field of music education, documented successful K-12 and collegiate teaching experience, emerging or established scholarly research agenda, familiarity with incorporating technology in music teaching and research, and active engagement in appropriate professional organizations. This position resides in the Setnor School of Music and is a dual appointment within the College of Visual and Performing Arts and the School of Education.
