Berkeley College is currently seeking highly qualified and motivated instructors to teach in the Graphic Design department. Subjects include Animation, UI/UX, Web Design, 3D Modeling, Animation, and Game Design. As a Graphic Design Adjunct, you will play a vital role in teaching and mentoring students, creating an engaging learning environment, and helping them develop the necessary skills to pursue lifelong success in dynamic careers.

Subject Area Insight:

  1. UI/UX. Graphic Design software (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Sketch, or Figma), Prototyping and Wireframing Tools, User Research and Testing Tools, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, Responsive & Interaction Design, Information Architecture
  • Web Design. HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Responsive Design, UI/UX Design, Adobe Creative Suite, Content Management Systems, Version Control, Front-End Frameworks, SEO Principles, Performance Optimization, Accessibility Standards, Mobile App Development, User Research and Testing
  • 3D Modeling. 3D Software (Autodesk Maya, Blender, Substance Painter, Unity), 3D Modeling, UV Mapping, Rigging, Texturing and Shading, Lighting and Rendering, AR/VR Metaverse integration (Spatial, Meta, etc.)
  • Animation. 2D (Adobe Animate, AfterEffects, Photoshop & Illustrator), 3D (Maya, Blender, Unity), Rigging & character animation, Rendering & post-production, Understanding of animation principles.
  • Game Design. Unity, Programming Languages (C#, C++, and Python), Maya/Blender, Level Design, Documentation, Game Physics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Collision Detection, and Optimization Techniques

Responsibilities:

  1. Teaching courses following a detailed lesson plan that emphasizes active student engagement and project-based learning.
  2. Creating an inclusive and positive learning environment for students, fostering a sense of community.
  3. Communicating complex subject matter clearly and concisely to a diverse range of learners.
  4. Providing timely feedback and mentoring to students in-person and via email.
  5. Ensuring assignments are graded on time.
  6. Completing administrative tasks within specified deadlines.
  7. Facilitating class critiques to encourage collaborative learning and constructive feedback among students.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in graphic design or a related discipline
  • Advanced knowledge of design principles and Adobe Suite, with a focus on practical application
  • College-level teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience or knowledge of related industries
  • Familiarity with Canvas LMS
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to teach onsite (Woodland Park campus) and online
