Assistant Professor of Dance at the University of Hawaii at Manoa to begin August 1, 2020. Full Time Tenure Track. Teach courses in anatomy and kinesiology for dancers. Teach two or more of the following; movement fundamentals, dance conditioning, somatic practice, differing epistemologies and approaches to dance science and movement analysis. Teach courses in Dance Technique at Intermediate and Advanced levels including Ballet, Contemporary/Modern, Asia and/or Pacific dance genre, Urban/Street, Hip Hop and Jazz. Advise students, actively pursue an ongoing agenda of relevant professional development and research, participate in university/departmental responsibilities. Other duties as assigned by Chair.
Minimum qualifications: PhD or relevant terminal degree (e.g. MFA), evidence of significant professional experience in performance, choreography, and organizing and directing dance productions. Demonstrated scholarly/creative research. Demonstrated competence in teaching at a university level.
Desirable qualifications: Ability to teach undergraduate or graduate dance courses in the following subject areas; Dance Performance Theory, Oceania or Asia, Indigenous Dance Studies, Business for Dance, Dance Theory and Criticism, Dance Research Methods, and Writing Intensive and Oral Communication designated courses. Expertise in teaching additional dance genre; direct outreach dance ensembles. Experience in grant writing and/or fundraising.
