Assistant Professor – Movement & Stage Combat

The Helmerich School of Drama at the University of Oklahoma invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in the area of Movement and Stage Combat. The successful candidate will design and teach courses in Stage Movement and Stage Combat.

Required qualifications: an MFA or PhD in Movement or an allied field or equivalent professional experience; teaching experience in a professional or educational setting; expertise in stage combat and coaching movement in productions.
Preferred qualifications: experience teaching Clowning, Period Styles, and/or Intimacy Direction/Choreography. Ability to certify students in Stage Combat and/or Intimacy Direction is also preferred.

The OU Helmerich School of Drama prepares students for creative and meaningful professional careers in a broad range of jobs in professional theatre, dance, opera, TV, film, live entertainment, industrial and theme park venues. We offer theatre training in a conservatory-style environment while still offering the advantages of a liberal arts education from a nationally renowned university. The School is comprised of 26 full-time faculty & staff with 152 majors. It offers a BFA in Drama with emphases in design (scenic, lighting, costume, and sound), performance, stage management, and dramaturgy as well as an MA in Drama. The School collaborates with the Schools of Dance and Musical Theatre, and the opera program in The School of Music to produce 9 main stage productions each year in addition to a season of 3-4 Lab Theatre productions.

Salary Range- $50,000-54,000
