For the Bachelor of Design Degrees
The University of Waikato Joint Institute at Zhejiang University City College (NZUWI), based in China

The University of Waikato Joint Institute at Zhejiang University City College is designated as an Institute authorised to deliver NZ (University of Waikato) and Chinese (Ministry of Education) accredited degrees. Currently, the Institute offers undergraduate degrees in Finance, Interface Design and Media Design. All teaching is conducted in English. After three years of operation, the Institute has now approximately 1,000 students.

Applications are invited to apply for a position to contribute to teaching courses in the area of Computer Science in the Bachelor of Design (Interface) and the Bachelor of Design (Media) degrees, taught at the Joint Institute by the Design Group of the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences. The position is based in China.

The Bachelor of Design degrees combine highly creative design and visual communication courses with computer programming courses. The degrees have been created through a unique partnership in consultation with the design industry to meet the increasing demand for experts in design who can fluently understand the digital world.

The role requires you to have an in-depth knowledge of computer science, including Object-oriented programming (particularly Java); Mobile computing (Android app development) and web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and MySQL). The role also requires you to have experience working in an international organisation.

Successful candidates will hold a relevant Master’s degree with demonstrated experience in both lecturing and facilitating creative workshops with large groups of students, the experience of teaching across cultures and the ability to work with students for whom English is not their first language.

Current salary range for Professional Teaching Fellows will be in the range of CNY320,000 to CNY455,000 per year dependent on qualifications, skills and experience.

A competitive benefits package is also on offer for the appointee (and partner and dependent children where relevant) which includes either on campus accommodation or a contribution towards accommodation, a contribution towards relocation and international school tuition fees, payment for work visa and medical insurance costs and one return economy airfare per annum to return to home country. The appointment will start in August 2021 to include onboarding before teaching at the Joint Institute starts in September 2021. The appointment will be a foreign expert, with employment compliant with the regulations of the provincial government. These regulations stipulate who is eligible for legal employment as a foreign expert with regard to obtaining work permits and visas.
