The Department of Theater and Performance Studies (TAPS) at Stanford University invites applicants for a non-tenure track, full-time Lecturer position in Stage Management beginning September 2025. The position will be for one year initially, with the possibility of reappointment.

The Lecturer in Stage Management will be responsible for teaching three courses and stage managing three Main Stage shows in the TAPS production season. Additional duties may include supervising student assistants and serving as an advisor to student stage managers and students in theatrical leadership roles.

All candidates are expected to provide evidence of teaching excellence, strong collaboration skills, collegiality, and the ability to work as a hands-on member of academic and production teams.

Candidates must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree, and
  • MFA or equivalent professional experience beyond the Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience teaching stage management at the college level
  • Professional stage management experience
  • Experience in working in educational productions, working with student and faculty directed projects.

The expected base pay range for this position is $80,000 – $86,000. Stanford University has provided a pay range representing its good-faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the qualifications of the selected candidate, budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.

Stanford TAPS has an undergraduate Theater and Performance Studies B.A. program with concentrations available in Acting and Theater-Making; an undergraduate Minor program with concentrations in Theater and Performance Studies and Dance; and Ph.D. degree and Ph.D. Minor programs in Theater and Performance Studies. The mission of the program is to combine academic scholarship with arts practice.
