The Department of Theatre at the University of Minnesota Duluth invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in Dance and Musical Theatre. Position is a 100% appointment over the 9-month academic year, primarily supporting the Musical Theatre Major and Dance Minor programs. Responsibilities include: teaching various levels of dance, especially tap and jazz; teaching various levels of musical theatre skills and auditioning to BA and BFA students; supporting an active production season by providing choreography and/or direction for at least one production a year as part of the mainstage season; and providing departmental service and other requisite duties of a tenure-track position. Ability to teach courses in a secondary emphasis will be considered.
Essential qualifications: Masters degree in Dance, Musical Theatre or Theatre from a regionally accredited university with two years teaching experience, a record of effective instruction in musical theatre and various styles of dance technique at the college and/or university level, and evidence of effective teaching and communication skills. Graduate school teaching experience accepted. Evidence of sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, LGBTQ, and ethnic backgrounds of students, staff and faculty is required.
