Summary of Responsibilities

Direct one or more choirs and teach courses in the choral degree curriculum (e.g., conducting, choral literature, etc.). Teach courses in other areas of expertise depending on departmental needs. Fulfill faculty expectations associated with traditional full-time tenure track university appointment (teaching, scholarly/creativity activity, service). Mentor graduate conducting students. Advise and recruit undergraduate and graduate students. Establish and maintain local, regional, and national recognition as a choral conductor.

Minimum Education

Doctoral degree in music from an accredited institution or equivalent professional experience by hire date.

Minimum Experience

Demonstrated success in choral conducting.
Demonstrated successful teaching at the college or university level.
Evidence of potential for significant artistic achievement.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Willingness to accommodate a variety of learning styles and strategies in instructional delivery and learning activities, including online and blended learning, flexible teaching methods, and applied learning approaches.

Regular Hours of Work Varied depending upon class and rehearsal schedule.
