The UW-Stevens Point dance program seeks a highly motivated, dynamic dance artist and educator to join our nationally recognized program. The emphasis for this position is in Ballet and Jazz/Hip Hop. The position supports expanded dance styles that embrace non-western dance forms. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have performance, choreographic and educational experiences that support teaching a variety of theory courses from: Dance Composition, Dance History, Movement Analysis, and Teaching Theories. Scholarly research, creative activity, choreographing new work for dance majors/minors, and service to the department and university is expected.

Required qualifications include: Master’s degree in Dance or Bachelor’s degree in Dance with extensive professional experience; Demonstrated expertise teaching Ballet and Jazz and/or Hip Hop at multiple levels; Professional performance/choreographic experience; Proven ability to work in a collaborative environment; Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.

Preferred qualifications include: MA or MFA in Dance; University and/or professional experience teaching Hip Hop or non-western dance forms; Previous university teaching experience in Composition, Dance History, Movement Analysis, or Teaching Theories.

The performing arts are an important component of the academic and cultural life of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The high quality academic and production programs have established UW-Stevens Point as a primary undergraduate center in Wisconsin for students interested in the performing arts. Accredited by NAST and NASD, the Department of Theatre and Dance offers BFA degrees in Musical Theatre, Acting, and Design and Technology and BA degrees in Dance and Drama in a department of 225 undergraduate students. Admission to all department programs is by audition and/or interview only.
