The Communication Studies Program at TUJ invites applications for a student-centered full-time faculty member to start in the spring or summer of 2023. TUJ faculty contracts are renewable. In accordance with university standards and Japanese law, faculty may be eligible for a continuing contract after five years.
The position is ideally filled by a digital filmmaker emphasizing audio-visual storytelling that examines contemporary issues. Areas of expertise for the position include, but are not limited to, narrative filmmaking, virtual/augmented reality, and documentary. A solid knowledge of editing and sound recording is strongly desired. The position requires a teacher who can develop students into productive and meaningful storytellers. Secondary disciplines such as media studies and scriptwriting are desired.

Established in 1982, the Japan campus of Temple University (TUJ) is a full-service branch campus that educates over 3,500 students from 60 countries in English in its undergraduate programs, graduate programs (law, business, graduate education) and non-degree programs (academic English program, continuing education, and corporate education). TUJ offers undergraduate programs to a broad mix of 1,600 Japanese and non-Japanese degree-seeking students who will earn their degrees from Temple University through the Japan campus. Every semester, additional students from Temple’s main campus and other universities converge on our campus for a short-term study abroad experience.
In one of the most dynamic cities in the world, we offer ten full undergraduate majors ranging from Art to International Business to Psychological Studies. Our faculty and staff is international, with 37 full-time faculty joined by experienced administrators and many part-time adjunct faculty from the professions, business, and the arts. TUJ holds classes in the fall and sSpring semesters (15 weeks) and over a well-enrolled 10-week summer semester.
