Department Summary
The University of North Texas (UNT) College of Music is the largest public university music program and one of the most respected comprehensive music schools in the United States. It offers fully accredited degrees from the bachelor to doctoral levels and is home to the world’s first jazz studies degree program. UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
Position Summary
Teaching: Recruit, retain, and teach an outstanding enrollment of undergraduate and graduate violin students. Supervise graduate violin students, including doctoral documents.

Research/creative activities: Maintain an established national/international profile as a performing artist (soloist, chamber musician, and/or orchestral violinist).

Service: Participate fully in academic and professional activities, including service assignments, across the campus and the profession. Other duties as assigned including, but not limited to, coaching chamber music and teaching violin pedagogy and literature classes.

Minimum Qualifications
Earned doctoral degree in violin performance.
Demonstrated excellence as a violin teacher/recruiter and active, artist-level performer. Demonstrated success in teaching at the college/university level.
Demonstrated success in chamber music.
Artist-level performer of solo, chamber, and orchestral repertoire.
High standards of professional ethics and collegiality.

Preferred Qualifications
Performance expertise across repertoire beyond the European canon.
Experience and enthusiasm for commissioning/premiering/recording new works for the violin.
Proven record of attracting, developing, and retaining outstanding violin students.
