Job Summary/Basic Function:The College of Visual Arts and Design (CVAD) at the University of North Texas invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Studio Art in Sculpture. The successful candidate will assist in leading the Sculpture area, teach at all levels in the undergraduate and graduate sculpture curriculum, and contribute to the strength and energy of the Studio Art department. Candidates must be able to integrate theories, concepts and techniques from a broad range of historical and contemporary sculpture practices. Studio Art faculty receive support for their research, professional practice and scholarship through a variety of institutional research grants and travel funding. The standard annual teaching load is a 2/2 in the rank of assistant professor. Additional service responsibilities as needed by the program, the department, and CVAD are required.

Our Sculpture program is led by two full-time Sculpture faculty who shape the curriculum and teach alongside several Adjunct Instructors and Graduate Teaching Fellows. The faculty are supported by a full-time Sculpture Technician who works with dedicated Graduate Student Assistants to maintain the tools and equipment in our newly constructed, state-of-the-art facilities.

The undergraduate Sculpture program supports a combination of traditional, digital and experimental approaches to the discipline.

Our graduate programs serves approximately 54 graduate students across all Studio Art areas.

The Studio Art faculty are engaged artists and educators who are recognized nationally and internationally for their intellectual and creative research.

Minimum Qualifications:- A Master of Fine Arts degree in studio art
- A portfolio that demonstrates professional achievement and depth of experience in the field of sculpture
- A strong and active record of research and exhibitions
- Comprehensive knowledge and technical abilities in a broad range of traditional and contemporary sculpture practices
- Evidence of teaching experience in the field of sculpture as instructor of record at the undergraduate level
- An ability to communicate across a broad range of contemporary studio art disciplines and practices

Preferred Qualifications:- Evidence of competencies in foundry techniques, demonstrated in professional work and/or student learning outcomes
- Two years of university-level teaching experience after graduate school
- Graduate-level teaching experience
- Knowledge of digital fabrication processes, tools and techniques
- Evidence of collaboration or community engagement
- Evidence of strong interpersonal and communication skills and leadership abilities
