Instructor in Music Business. This is a full time, nine-month, non-tenure track position in the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music beginning August 17, 2020.
Primary expectation that this is a full teaching load position in the candidate’s areas of expertise which may include music industry specialties such as legal aspects/contracts and copyright law, artist management, music publishing and distribution, entrepreneurship, new media/internet operations, record company operations, concerts and touring, as well as mentorship and supervision of student internships. Additional responsibilities may include assistance with the University of Memphis’ Highwater Records label and Music River publishing company.
Graduate degree preferred or commensurate professional experience in the music industry or related fields as well as a strong commitment to teaching. Candidates should possess a broad knowledge of the music industry as well as significant first-hand experience. The accomplishments of candidates for this position must reflect their commitment to working with an inclusive student population, and their ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the university.
