  • Part-Time Lecturer in Scenic Design

    The Department of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies at Tufts University is seeking a part-time lecturer to teach an introductory course in Scenic Design in the spring semester 2026. The class meets Wednesdays 1:30-4:20pm at Tufts University Medford Campus, Aidekman Arts Center.


    The Department of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies offers a collegial environment for thinking critically about histories and institutions of power. The department is invested in illuminating how social and cultural formations inform performances on and off the stage.     Scenic Design Course Description: Development of the skills of script analysis, rendering and model making, and process for the design of scenery. This course is cross-listed with Tufts Film & Media Studies Program.  The scope and syllabus of this course is at the discretion of the applicant in consult with the Head of Design and Production.


    Additional Duties:  This position will also be a design mentor to a student designer working on a student group production, and also a student designer on a TDPS department production.


    Qualifications


    Applicants should hold an MFA in Theatre Design or have equivalent professional experience and have some teaching, and one-on-one mentoring, experience at the college level.
