  • Part-Time Lecturer in Costume Technology
    School of Arts & Sciences: Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies

    The Department of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies at Tufts University is seeking a part-time lecturer to teach an introductory course in Costume Technology in the spring semester 2026. The class meets Fridays 1:20-4:20pm at Tufts University Medford Campus, Aidekman Arts Center.


    The Department of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies offers a collegial environment for thinking critically about histories and institutions of power. The department is invested in illuminating how social and cultural formations inform performances on and off the stage. Given the department’s commitment to both student and faculty success, we are confident that the candidate will find an intellectual and creative home at Tufts as well as an enthusiastic and engaged classroom environment.


    Costume Technology Course Description: An exploration of materials, equipment, and methods of costume construction. Topics include period pattern research and development, construction techniques, fabric treatments, mask making, and costume prop design. The scope and syllabus of this course is at the discretion of the applicant in consultation with the Head of Design and Production


    Qualifications


    Applicants should hold an MFA in Theatre Design or Technology (preferred) or have equivalent professional experience. Applicants should have some teaching experience at the college level.
