    The School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture (APLA) at Auburn University, a comprehensive land-grant and research institution, invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in Architecture centered on teaching design studio and seminar/lecturer courses commencing August 2026.

    APLA has an 118-year history of educating architects, interior architects, landscape architects, and planners. The school contributes to the region and to the profession through outreach, scholarship, and creative work. APLA includes four allied disciplines: Architecture, Interior Architecture, Environmental Design, and Landscape Architecture, and it offers both Bachelor's and Master's degree options. APLA resides in the College of Architecture, Design and Construction along with the School of Industrial and Graphic Design and the McWhorter School of Building Science.

    The Architecture program seeks candidates whose design research/practice is grounded in architectural innovation. We welcome candidates engaged in a range of progressive practices or scholarship in architecture and allied fields. Applicants are expected to teach, conduct research/lead creative activity that contributes to or challenges current architectural thinking. The successful candidate will teach design studios that integrate social, technical, and environmental considerations into architectural design and relevant courses in building technology. Additionally, the candidate should have a strong teaching and research interest in one or more of the following areas: fabrication technologies, materials research, environmental controls, building systems/performance, high performance assemblies, and/or resilience.

    Responsibilities:
    The primary responsibilities of the appointment include teaching, research, and service. The successful candidate for the position will be able to teach undergraduate architecture studios, lecture courses, and/or seminars/workshops related to Building Technology courses. Candidates will be expected to develop and maintain an active program of scholarly and/or creative work within the discipline. APLA is particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to the excellence of the academic community through their teaching, research, outreach, and service. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
