Department of Visualization
College of Architecture – Texas A&M University

The Department of Visualization at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, invites applications for multiple tenure-track, tenured, and academic professional track positions with research and teaching in all areas of the art and science of visualization; areas of particular interest include environmental modeling and simulation, computer graphics, animation, visual arts, aesthetics, visual storytelling, data visualization, interaction design and game development. These new hires are expected to join our faculty in 2019.

The Department of Visualization supports a vigorous interdisciplinary blend of the visual arts and the related visual and imaging sciences and technology. Academic programs include the B.S., M.S., and MFA in Visualization, with over 400 students. Our mission is the development and implementation of emerging methods for enhancing understanding and gaining insight through visual means in teaching, research, and creative work that impacts future directions of the field. Associate Professor (Tenured)
Responsibilities for this position include the pursuit of innovative research and/or creative art practice, teaching and advising at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and service to the department, university, and the field, including outreach to industry. Outstanding candidates will have a strong alignment with the mission of the department and a substantial body of recognized and peer-reviewed work. Demonstrated experience in cross-disciplinary collaboration is preferred.

Assistant Professor (Tenure Track)
Responsibilities for this position include the pursuit of innovative and creative research, teaching and advising at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and service to the department, university, and the field. Outstanding candidates will have credentials and experience evidencing expertise in their field as well as a commitment to significantly advancing the direction of their field.

Lecturer / Instructional / Professor of Practice (Academic Professional Track)
Responsibilities for these positions include teaching primarily at the undergraduate level with case-dependent opportunities for graduate level pedagogy, service to the department, university and field, and outreach to industry.

Qualifications
For the Tenured and Tenure-Track positions, an MFA or Ph.D. is required. In rare circumstances, candidates with an extraordinary record of accomplishment will be considered without a terminal degree in the field. For Academic Professional Track positions a terminal degree is preferred but candidates with an MS or MA in a related field and significant teaching and/or professional experience will be considered.
