Visiting Assistant Professor, Dance, One Year Full-Time
The Department of Theatre & Dance seeks Visiting Assistant Professor for sabbatical replacement in a dynamic, large, physically and intellectually rigorous Dance program. Candidates should have a terminal degree (MFA or PhD) and a significant record of achievement as a dance artist and educator.
Duties include teaching both studio and theory coursework. The position requires teaching in one or more dance techniques as well as expertise and ability to teach in any one of the following areas: history/cultural/performance studies, dance education, improvisation, composition, somatic practices, dance science, production, film/video/media, circus arts, or other dance-aligned fields of investigation. The capacity to incorporate diverse perspectives into theory and studio courses coupled with a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts learning is required. The successful candidate must be a collaborator and mentor with strong communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching.
Additional responsibilities may include choreography and direction within the department’s expansive co-curricular production calendar, mentoring student writing and choreography. Specific expertise and background in teaching writing is a plus.
