The School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA) at Tufts University Media Arts Department invites applications for part-time lecturer(s) in Digital Media for the spring 2023 semester

The Media Arts Department at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University seeks applications for up to three part-time lecturers in Digital Media to teach an introductory-level class in Spring 2023.

For the Spring semester, the teaching load will be teaching one or two sections of a Digital Media course to undergraduate art majors.

Requirements include expertise in at least ONE of the following areas:

  • Virtual Reality, using Unity software and Oculus Quest 2 hardware
  • Cinema 4D for 3D animation, rendering, and modeling
  • Other area of Digital Media expertise, such as creative coding, AI image generation, game design, 3D modeling, interactivity, or augmented reality

 

Qualifications

Candidates should have an MFA in Studio Art or an equivalent degree, and should have college level teaching experience, preferably at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Additional requirements include: a thorough knowledge of the discourses (theory and history) of Digital Art within a contemporary fine arts context; a demonstrated commitment to teaching; the ability to teach students with a wide range of cross-disciplinary interests and degrees of technical proficiency, and to support their work both conceptually and technically; and good interpersonal skills, including clarity, generosity, and creativity.

Related areas of specialization may include: cinema, animation, installation and sculpture, performance, narrative and documentary forms, journalism, activist art, and/or other intersections between technology and contemporary fine art.
