About MMC’s History, Philosophy & Religious Studies & International Studies Departments:
The History, Philosophy & Religious Studies Department at MMC asks students to read and confront challenging texts, from Socrates to Kant, Augustine to the Bhagavad-Gita. We look for the common concerns at the heart of the human experience and discuss how great thinkers and movements throughout world history have addressed them. We learn to resist reductive thinking and engage in respectful debate, to write critical analyses, and ask questions of our own.
The International Studies Department at MMC provides students with a deep understanding of social and political issues across the globe. It is anchored in the critical investigation of human rights, international relations, peace and security, global cultures, and development. The department, through its interdisciplinary perspectives, allows students to specialize in governance and security; development and social change; or culture and identity.
