The Multi-disciplinary Design program in College of Architecture + Planning at the University of Utah invites applications for an Assistant Professor position (tenure-track) in design. This position is a nine-month appointment (1.0 FTE) to begin on July 1, 2020.

Multi-disciplinary Design at the University of Utah is a digital, physical and platform product design program. We are academics, professionals and students redefining design process as it evolves beneath and beyond us. Students in the program move through a series of experiences exposing them to high craft, grounded research, ethics, leadership skills and new technologies. Our students design products and the relationships around them. www.design.utah.edu

The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a focus in design exploration through non-traditional methods in relationship to physical/spatial, digital and/or platform product. All scales of design and impact will be considered. Academic/Professional work should reflect abstract thinking bridged with real world application. Candidates are expected to teach studio, hold seminars in the area of their expertise, as well as conduct research and/or creative work within an R1 university setting.

Required qualifications:
- A graduate degree in Design or a related field prior to the beginning of the 2020 fall semester. (If the graduate degree is in another field, demonstrated education in design is expected.)

Preferred qualifications include:
- Previous teaching and/or mentoring experience with examples
- Peer-reviewed research and/or creative work
- Awards for teaching and/or design
- Professional work related to the position description

College of Architecture & Planning
The College of Architecture + Planning at the University of Utah is a community of award-winning and highly recognized faculty, entrepreneurial students, and supportive staff who together to form a creative community unlike any other.
