The Sculpture & Extended Media curriculum is designed to challenge students to utilize both traditional and contemporary approaches to making as they resolve challenges that occur as their work develops. Students are introduced and encouraged to experiment with a variety of means of production including, but not limited to: Sculpture, Installation, Performance, Social Practice, Moving Image, and Relational Aesthetics.
Ceramic students are encouraged to see clay as a technological medium through the international wild clay research project, where sculpture, functional pottery, and ecological uses of indigenous clays are explored through field trips and studio practices. Minerals sourced from across Montana are processed, blended, and tested in the spirit of exploration, discovery, and dissemination of new processes and knowledge. Learn More
