Jessica's research interests lie at the intersection of performance studies, postcolonial studies, and cultural studies, spanning topics that include traditional Asian performance, transnational cultural flows, and performance in everyday life. Her current research project analyzes performances of World War II memories in contemporary Japan. Through
an investigation of memorials, theater performances, and performance art installations, she elaborates on the relationship between performance and politics, aesthetics and responsibility. Her writings have appeared in Performance Research and TDR: The Drama Review.
