Die The Anton Bruckner Private University, which is supported by the state of Upper Austria, offers around 850 students artistic, artistic-educational and artistic-scientific courses in the fields of music, drama and dance. For this environment we are looking for a from 01.10.2026:

 

University professor for jazz piano (m/w/d)

20 hours per week, including 11 hours per week of teaching (50% of full-time employment)

 

Your duties

  • Leading a jazz piano class as part of artistic and artistic-pedagogical training in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs and, if applicable, supervision of relevant supplementary subjects, in particular subject didactics and teaching practice or ensemble and improvisation.
  • In addition to teaching courses, the activities of lecturers include the necessary preparation and follow-up activities, event and examination activities, research and administrative activities associated with teaching, participation in committees and the supervision and assessment of final theses.
  • Regular attendance at the ABU for participation in academic self-administration

 

Your profile

Conditions of employment:

  • Outstanding artistic and artistic-pedagogical qualifications on the piano, independent artistic profile, as well as international concert activities and extensive teaching experience
  • A domestic or equivalent foreign higher education qualification or an equivalent artistic or artistic-scientific aptitude appropriate to the position
  • Special aptitude for academic work, which is usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate, and/or special aptitude for artistic or, if applicable, subject-relevant professional activity
  • for applicants who do not hold a relevant professorship at a recognized domestic or foreign university, additional special artistic achievements or special achievements in the application/development of scientific knowledge and methods in at least 5 years of professional practice or the presentation of a habilitation. Further details are regulated by the PrivH-AkkVO as amended

Desired qualifications:

  • Stylistic range, experience in contemporary playing forms and with digital and analog sound generation
  • Willingness to cooperate and work in a team, willingness to work on an interdisciplinary basis
  • Leadership quality and organizational competence, gender and diversity competence

Based on part-time employment of 11 hours per week teaching, the monthly minimum salary is € 2731.00 gross. The classification is according to the Upper Austrian Salary Act 2001 in LD 8. The actual salary is based on creditable previous service.
