Position Overview
The University of Kansas School of Music seeks to a fill a full-time, academic year (nine month), artist performer in voice to teach applied voice beginning on August 18, 2022. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track). The successful candidate will be surrounded by colleagues who share a passion for artistic expression, educating students, creating professional opportunities in the field, and eager for collaborations and engagement in identifying new ways of learning, research and service. This position is open to all voice types, preference will be given to the following: mezzo-soprano, contralto, baritone, bass, or other "low" voice.
The University of Kansas School of Music is a comprehensive university music school offering professional training in a wide array of specializations through baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral degree programs. A charter member of the National Association of Schools of Music (1928), KU is the only institution authorized by the Kansas Board of Regents to grant doctoral degrees in music.

Job Description
Teaching- 40% -
Teach applied voice lessons (undergraduate and graduate) and related courses;
Maintain a strong voice studio;
Supervise/mentor teaching assistants.
Research/Creative Work – 40% -
Establish a research/creative agenda pursuant of artistic growth and an expanding reputation of excellence;
Perform with other faculty as a member of the Kansas Virtuosi;
Participate actively in the cultural and intellectual life of the School and the University.
Service – 20% –
Work individually and collaboratively in recruiting music performance, music education, and music therapy students;
Work cooperatively in support of the School of Music and the University;
Serve on graduate and faculty committees.
Required Qualifications
Doctoral Degree in Music OR a Master’s degree in music with significant professional performance experience. ABD candidates will be considered if degree will be completed by August 17, 2023
Demonstrated record of productive teaching experience at the collegiate or equivalent level.
Documented success as a singer.
Preferred Qualifications
