The Anton Bruckner Private University (ABPU) is an internationally renowned university in the heart of Europe located in Linz, the UNESCO City of Media Arts, which sees its mission equally in artistic, artistic-educational and artistic-academic education as in the development and communication of the arts. ABPU sees the transfer of knowledge to society and the area of the Third Mission as an important part of its social commitment. The Anton Bruckner Private University offers artistic and artistic-educational degree programmes in the fields of music, drama and dance. It is organised as a public corporation and is funded by the state of Upper Austria.

University professorship for contemporary dance

  • Scope of employment: 40 hours per week (22 hours teaching; full employment)
  • Duration of employment: initially limited to three years; due to positive evaluation - permanent position
  • Salary group: LD 8 Upper Austrian salary law 2001 (Oö. Gehaltsgesetzes 2001)
  • Gross monthly salary: from EUR 5.277,30 (depending on creditable previous service)
  • Planned start of employment: 01/10/2025
  • Selection procedure: according to the appointment regulations - hearing
  • End of application period: 15/07/2024
  • Hearing expected: 23+24 October 2024
  • Organisational unit: Institute of Dance Arts (IDA)


We are looking for a person with proven qualifications in the field of contemporary dance and their own choreographic work.
The Institute of Dance Arts (IDA) represents a specific profiling of these areas, which supports the diversity existing in this field and a differentiated and reflected craftsmanship in teaching.

Requirements

  • International performance experience as a contemporary dancer, performer or choreographer
  • Many years of teaching experience (specifically for contemporary dancers, various professional fields of practice and in the university/college sector)
  • Availability of international networks
  • Interest in interdisciplinary projects
  • High willingness to cooperate and ability to work in a team
  • A domestic or equivalent foreign university degree or equivalent artistic or artistic-scientific aptitude appropriate to the application
  • Regular attendance at the Anton Bruckner Private University and participation in academic self-administration are part of the service obligation
  • Good knowledge of English (language of instruction English)
  • Good knowledge of German (university committee work)

Role & Responsibilities

  • Teaching contemporary dance technique

  • Development of own artistic works/choreographies with the students for performances and examinations

  • Strategic and methodical further development of the teaching of contemporary dance techniques in close team-oriented cooperation with colleagues

  • Contextualization of the practice in in-depth courses

  • In addition, integration in other areas of dance pedagogy, movement research, project coaching or partnering is possible depending on expertise and interest

  •  An open elective module enables the introduction of further skills and research interests.
