  • Multi-year lecturer position in Technical Direction (TD)
    Department of Dance and Theatre
    University of North Texas

    The Department of Dance and Theatre at the University of North Texas invites applications for a full-time, multi-year lecturer position in Technical Direction (TD) to begin in Fall 2023. The position of Lecturer/TD comes with full benefits. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a 4/4 teaching load (which includes construction for departmental productions); supervise and manage the department scene shop; mentor and supervise student creative work; collaborate with performance, dance, design/tech faculty and guest artists; and serve as TD and stage management advisor. The candidate must hold an MFA in Theatre with an emphasis in Technical Direction, or a related discipline; demonstrate hand and digital rendering techniques; and demonstrate evidence of teaching in the area of technical direction and/or stagecraft/construction. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, to teaching courses in technical direction, multiple levels of stagecraft/construction, stage management, and other courses within the candidate’s field of expertise and as assigned. 


    Minimum Qualifications: 



    • MFA in Theatre with an emphasis in Technical Direction, or a related discipline

    • Demonstrate digital drafting; and demonstrate evidence of teaching in the area of technical direction and/or stagecraft/construction and related technologies

    • Work experience in professional theatre; scene shop management experience.

    • Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion in preparation for joining a university that is also both a Hispanic and Minority Serving Institution.


    Preferred: 



    • Experience in welding, rigging, woodworking, and other methods of fabrication and construction.

    • Experience using CNC, 3D Printing, and single/double purchase fly systems.

    • Demonstrated skills in budgeting, organization, and collaboration.
