The Anton Bruckner Private University is a public corporation and is funded by the State of Upper Austria. It was accredited as a private university in 2004. We offer our approximately 850 students artistic, artistic-pedagogical and artistic-scientific degree programmes in the fields of music, drama and dance. University professorship for transverse flute (f/m/d)

  • Scope of employment: 20 hours per week, including 11 hours of teaching per week (50% of full employment)
  • Duration of employment: initially limited to three years; in case of positive evaluation permanent employment
  • Classification: Salary group B (LD 8 of the Upper Austrian Salary Act 2001)
  • Remuneration: gross monthly salary from EUR 2.638,65 (depending on creditable previous service)
  • End of application period: January 29th, 2025
  • Selection procedure: in accordance with the appointment regulations:
    • Preselection by appointment committee;
    • Hearing incl. teaching sample expected on April 28th, 2025
  • Planned start of employment: October 1st, 2025
  • Organizational unit: Institute for Early Music and Historical Performance Practice (ALT)

Requirements

1. Conditions of employment:

  • Outstanding artistic and artistic-pedagogical qualifications on historical flutes
  • Intensive involvement with historical performance practice
  • A completed domestic or equivalent foreign university degree appropriate to the position or an equivalent artistic or artistic-academic aptitude
  • International concert activity
  • Extensive teaching experience
  • Regular attendance at the Anton Bruckner Private University and participation in academic self-administration are part of the duty.
  • Special aptitude for academic work, which is usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate, and/or special aptitude for artistic or, if applicable, relevant professional activity;
    for applicants who do not already hold a relevant professorship at a recognized domestic or foreign university, additional special artistic achievements; or special achievements in the application/development of scientific knowledge and methods in at least five years of professional practice; or the presentation of a habilitation. Further details are regulated by the PrivH-AkkVO as amended.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Leading a transverse flute class within the framework of artistic education in the bachelor and master studies and teaching of the relevant supplementary subjects, in particular  ensemble/consort
  • Arts-based research/artistic research and supervision of doctoral students
  • In addition to teaching courses, the activities of teaching staff include the necessary preparation and follow-up activities, event and examination activities, research and administrative activities associated with teaching, participation in committees and the supervision and assessment of final theses.
